IRIB to air acclaimed movies during Nowruz holiday

IRIB is to broadcast four acclaimed movies during Nowruz holiday.

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) is set to broadcast four acclaimed movies during the Nowruz holiday beginning on March 20.

IRIB Channel 1 will air Fajr-award winning ‘When the Moon Was Full’ by Narges Abyar, a true love story of Abdul-Hamid Rigi, a member of the Jundallah terrorist group.

Rigi marries Faezeh Mansouri, a woman from Tehran. Faezeh is forced to leave her homeland along with her brother, Shahab, to live in Pakistan where they find themselves involved in the Jundallah rebel activities.

The Rigi brothers were arrested by Iranian security forces and were executed in 2010.

Elnaz Shakerdoust, Houtan Shakiba, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee and Shabnam Moqaddami are among the cast of the film.

Iranian biopic ‘Takhti, the World Champion’ is another Nowruz pick set to air by Channel 1.

Directed by Bahram Tavakkoli and produced by Saeed Malekan, the film depicts the Iranian world champion’s life from cradle to grave. The project is shot in three phases to show the hero’s childhood, teenagehood and adulthood.

Among the cast list are Atila Pesyani, Mahour Alvand, Hamid-Reza Azarang, Banipal Shoumoun, Parivash Nazariyeh, Behnoush Tabatabaee, Farhad Ayish, Siavash Tahmoures, Masoumeh Qasemipour, Setareh Pesyani, Alireza Goudarzi, and Shirin Yazdanbakhsh.

Tavakkoli’s film had its premiere as a contender at the 37th Fajr Film Festival in Iran. The film got 11 nominations at the event and succeeded to win two Crystal Simorgh awards in the categories of Best Cinematography and Best Set Design.

The flick also attended the 18th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, held on January 11-19, 2020.

Nima Javidi’s ‘The Warden’ will be also screened on Channel 3 IRIB.

The film that counts as Javidi’s second directorial experience after his most acclaimed flick ‘Melbourne’ narrates the story of a warden who has big hopes of promotion on his head. He has recently been assigned a mission to evacuate the prison and move the inmates into another facility.

Should he be able to accomplish his task to the fullest, he will be rewarded. A prisoner, however, has gone missing which might bring the warden shame and bring down his dreams of promotion.

Iranian mega-star Navid Mohammadzadeh and Parinaz Izadyar play the lead roles in the movie. Atila PesyaniSetareh PesyaniMani Haqiqi and Habib Rezaee are also among the cast members.

Iranian teens’ feature film ‘The White Forehead 3’ by Seyyed-Javad Hashemi will be aired on Channel 2.

The popular musical comedy, which is the third episode of ‘Octopus’ trilogy, follows the story of its previous part ‘White Forehead 2’ which shows how an octopus was after trapping all the gazelles and devouring them. The gazelles, however, can flee from their doomed destiny by the help of White Forehead.
